PLANT MANAGER (PENANG - PERAI)

The Role:

This is a new role managing a team in a manufacturing environment with P&L responsibility. The role will be reporting to the Global General Manager based in Europe so the person will be required to work on his/her own initiative. It is a new site and requiring hiring and setting up for all areas. The site will be developed to best practices in LEAN and to meet best practice for Safety and EHS.

Job Responsibility:
  • Lead and co-ordinates the day-to-day activities of the site to meet targets for customer delivery, product quality and cost ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
  • Leads the use of lean tools to drive continuous improvement and process reliability.
  • Creates a high performing flexible team which achieves excellent results.
  • Responsible for the site P&L, controlling costs to meet the targets.
  • Reviews production data, machines running status, escalations and corrective action to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Ensures that there is regular communication with team through visual management systems and co-ordinate all training in order to perform assigned tasks across production cells.
  • Responsible for ensuring that his/her team are trained in their roles and also to support the development of standard work documentation, training and work instruction activities where appropriate.
  • Creates a high performing flexible team which achieves excellent results through coaching/mentoring and effective performance management.
  • Plans all people, material and machine resources to support weekly production schedules.
  • Lead area 5'S programme to ensure that housekeeping & safety issues are resolved in a timely and systematic manner thus meeting all company safety, environmental and quality initiatives.
Job Requirement:
  • Educated to degree level - Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years experience in a Management or Supervisory role.
  • Proficient at reading and writing English is a MUST.
  • Excellent LEAN operations leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a LEAN environment.
  • Performance and result driven.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Excellent initiative and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to understand technical issues.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Understanding of safe working practices, example 5S.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and ERP systems.
